Time For Some Winter Wear Maintenance

So it's finally the fall of winter that brings along a bulk of warm clothes out of the heavy trunks. The velvets, wools, cashmere, Lilian, silks and what not, all of these seem to worry us in terms of the maintenance task to be carried out post even a single wear. Unlike the carefree summer times, during winters we ought to be more careful with the washing techniques and hence, the improved version of laundry handling has come up with vigorous popularity.

The agony of winter wear clothing is that its washing and drying becomes a tedious task. With just a little bit of regular attention, you can keep your winter clothes looking amazing for several seasons. So, while putting light on some expert suggestions, you shall be enlightened with some useful tips that may help you endure your avoidance from going for shopping very often.

1. Despite what it says on the tag, cashmere is best washed by hand in cold water with baby shampoo or Woolite for optimal softness and protection from chemicals (and only about two times a season).

2. For quick dry, lay your sweater flat to dry, pressing it gently with a towel. Never hold up a wet sweater by the shoulders, it’ll stretch it out.

3. Always clean cashmere before storing it for the winter, as moths are attracted to our everyday scents, such as perfume, food, deodorant, and smoke.

4. Never use scalding hot water or bleach on wool items.

5. Don’t add more detergent than necessary. Residual soap generally prevents down items from getting fluffy.

6. If your jacket or coat is machine-washable, turn it inside out to protect the exterior as much as possible from the harshness inflicted upon it by the machine.

7. For your silks to last longer, after dry clean go for professional starching. This will help in retaining the crispness intact.

8. Garments made from popular materials like leather or suede require extra care. Before treating any garment, always first refer to the instructions on the care label.

9. If your expensive sweater is embedded with metal studs, do not compromise by giving it a machine or hand wash. Such garments should be dry cleaned so that the metals don't tarnish.

It's a taboo if you don't take efforts to add life or make your clothes last longer, smell fresh and look new. It's time to stand tall among your peers and flaunt the best of winter range that you carry on yourself while beating the highest record of head turners.
